but uncluster fuck this car.... Shocked  Laughing

its what erik said...see the ls motor oils the cam area first, then oils every thing else from there. (unlike most other engines where the mains get oil first.)

cam journals where ok, but most of the lobes had heavy signs of pitting

thats one of the better ones. some of the lifters just came apart as they came out.

and since the cam was the only thing getting oil, the mains/rods suffered badly.

you'll see here, that one of the rod bearings was over lapping itself, and pretty much spun. tearing up the crank, and rod

some of them starting finding there way out! Laughing

the black on the rod caps is from all the heat Surprised

found tons of metal in the pan and on the windage tray

there was only 2 quarts of oil in this thing when it was drained Surprised, most of it had metal (bearing's) in it. and most know these are bad about sucking oil into the intake stream, which it did show some signs of.

but im going to stop there...figured most would love to see the destruction pics..lol

but to get on with it, customer finally made up his mind that he was just going to freshen up a stock bottom end and cam it..

so here goes
so after waiting on his buddy to get that all sorted out, i got it back!

time to pull this thing out of the corner finally!

had tons of lsx parts here to go thru and put all the good stuff in the motor as it should!

clean everything very well

and start spreading it out and put it back together

dipped the heads and cleaned them , removing almost all the carbon..

found arp updated the head bolt torque on there bolts, and got the top tpgether

and cleaning and painting stuff up.

back in the car

moving the radiator forward, and rewiring some things and doing major clean up... more to come  Wink

on with the changes...02 short blocked , freshened up to stock but with a ms4 cam.
i used parts from 2 or 3 lsx motors in this, and was surprised by thew reults. i have a before and after graph here at the shop if any one would like to see it, but im not posting it here. cause it was on the same dyno, before it blew up.
98 stock heads other then a good cleaning, and the aftermarket spring that was on them
02 intake
and added some length to the intake track

with very little run time and short on time, this went together rather fast once i got the short block back.(one of his buddies freshened for  it for him)
off to the dyno we go

get unloaded

and on the rollers we go

after a bunch of other part throttle pulls, and tweaking

4k sweep

5k sweep

and some numbers

im sure erik will chime in with how the car drives.
